Battle Points

Battle Points

1. General Information about Battle Points

Battle Points (BP) are points that are required to upgrade items, buy Cataclysm materials and buy certain pieces of gear. You gain Battle Points by killing monsters and bosses from any custom instances and by killing other players who carry Battle Points in PvP. You can see how much Battle Points your character carries by using your Pandora's Box and going to the option "BP&VT Query."

2. Battle Points from instances.

Every custom monster and boss carry Battle Points. When you kill a mob that carries Battle Points, you get the Battle Points that mob was carrying. Monsters and bosses that are harder to kill and have more health, tend to give more Battle Points than monsters and bosses that are easier to kill and have less health. This will bring us to one way to obtaining a lot of Battle Points; farming. When you kill a monster when you are in a group, you gain half the amount of Battle Points from the monster.

2.1 Farming Battle Points

Farming is one way for players to obtain a lot of Battle Points. The concept is simple; you kill a lot of monsters and you gain a lot of Battle Points. However this is easier said than done for most players. To be able to farm a lot of Battle Points quick and efficiently, you will need to have a strong character that can both survive in an instance and kill monsters quickly. Due to the fact that stronger monsters give more Battle Points than weaker monsters, it is generally better to kill the stronger ones. Keep in mind that when you farm Battle Points, you wish to kill the strongest monsters you can kill while still farming efficiently. That means that you might want to farm an instance that is one step lower than the hardest instance you can run, because you have less "downtime" between monsters and you kill the monsters quicker. Downtime is considered time in which you are not killing a monster, such as traveling and regaining health.

2.2 Battle Points from monsters

Most monsters carry different amounts of Battle Points. A list of monsters and the amount of Battle Points they give will be given in the next paragraph.

3. Battle Points from Player versus Player.

Another way to get Battle Points is to kill other players in PvP (Player versus Player). The killed player loses 10% of the Battle Points he was carrying on the moment he got killed. The killing plalyer gains 70% to 75% of the Battle Points the killed player loses, which is 7% to 7.5% of the Battle Points the killed player was carrying on the moment he got killed. PvP is a great way for stronger players to gain Battle Points, however not everybody desires to lose their Battle Points, so they refrain from PvP'ing when a stronger player is around. Simply gaining Battle Points through PvP is not the only positive aspect of this system. You can now use this system to trade, transfer and store Battle Points on other characters.

3.1 Trading Battle Points

With the previously mentioned system, you can trade Battle Points to other players. The concept it very simple; the buyer gives the seller a certain amount of seals or any other item they wish to trade the Battle Points for and the seller lets the buyer kill the seller afterwards.

Some tips when you trade Battle Points:

  • Make sure the seller or buyer is trustable. The last thing you wish to happen when trading Battle Points is to get scammed.
  • The best places to trade Battle Points are Arena type zones. In these zones you can freely kill and respawn, without having to put down a duel flag constantly.
  • Make sure you trade the Battle Points in a safe place. You don't want unexpected players to kill you while you are trading Battle Points.

3.2 Transfering Battle Points

Transfering Battle Points works almost the same as trading Battle Points. The difference is that you often don't get a payment in return and you often transfer the Battle Points again to an alt.

Some tips when you transferBattle Points:

  • Make sure the seller or buyer is trustable. The last thing you wish to happen when trading Battle Points is to get scammed.
  • The best places to trade Battle Points are Arena type zones. In these zones you can freely kill and respawn, without having to put down a duel flag constantly.
  • Make sure you trade the Battle Points in a safe place. You don't want unexpected players to kill you while you are trading Battle Points.
  • You will lose aroung 50% of your initial Battle Points. (70% x 70% = 49%)

3.3 Storing Battle Points

Some people desire to use an alt to store their Battle Points. That way they can freely PvP without having to risk losing Battle Points. They transfer the Battle Points to their alt and back when they need it. Keep in mind that when doing this, a lot of the Battle Points will go to waste.
